About the Villalobos Brothers

Alberto, Ernesto and Luis Villalobos of the Villalobos Brothers have delighted audiences throughout Latin America, India, Russia, Canada and in more than 30 states across the US, performing at historic venues and events including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, the Latin Grammy Awards, the 60th Anniversary of the United Nations, the 66th FIFA Congress in Mexico City, and the Apollo Theatre.

In 2018, they collaborated with Arturo O'Farrill and the Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra for the "Fandango at the Wall" project, produced by Kabir Sehgal (a Dartmouth alum). The endeavor united legendary international musicians for a live concert at the Tijuana-San Diego border wall, which resulted in a live album and documentary film focusing on the lives of the son jarocho musicians. Read more about the project in this article from Downbeat.

The Villalobos Brothers have collaborated with legendary musicians including Grammy winners Bruce Springsteen, Dolly Parton, Antonio Sánchez, Regina Carter, Eduardo Magallanes, and Ana Tijoux, and recently premiered their Symphonic Project, performing with both the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra and the Walla Walla Symphony.

This event is supported by the Jack and Dorothy Byrne Foundation.

From their three violins, they conjure all the sounds they encountered on the way: the technical virtuosity of their classical training, the flamboyant energy of Son Huasteco, the honeyed melodies of Mexican trova, jazz-inflected dissonance, the charm and energy of pop.
