Hop on Tour

Wind Ensemble & Symphony Orchestra

live at New England Conservatory's Jordan Hall
November 03, 2024

The two ensembles join forces at the storied Boston hall to premiere new works and celebrate music greats.

Filippo Ciabatti, director Dartmouth Symphony Orchestra
Brian Messier, director Dartmouth College Wind Ensemble

The evening's program features Mexican works, including the premiere of Rodrigo Martinez Torres' Onda Tropical. The concert is part of the Mexican Repertoire Initiative, the Hop's ongoing commitment to bringing Mexican repertoire to the international stage, providing opportunities for Mexican composers, and combating institutionalized racism in educational and professional performing ensembles. Adding to the evening's excitement, audiences will be treated to a performance of Gershwin's iconic Rhapsody in Blue to mark its 100th anniversary as well as Beethoven's powerful Symphony No. 5.

Last fall, the Dartmouth College Wind Ensemble performed at Jordan Hall alongside guest conductor Luis Manuel Sánchez and musicians from the UNAM Banda Sinfonica.

The Hop will be chartering a bus to New England Conservatory's Jordan Hall. Join us for the trip! (Make sure you follow the prompts to add tickets for BOTH the performance AND the bus to your cart!)
