Bowen Yang and Lily Gladstone star in this joyful comedy of errors about a gay man and his lesbian friend, whose plans to trade a green-card marriage for IVF go hilariously awry.
Frustrated with his commitment-phobic boyfriend Chris (Bowen Yang) and running out of time, Min (Han Gi-Chan) makes a deal with his lesbian friend Angela (Kelly Marie Tran): a green-card marriage for him in exchange for her partner Lee's (Lily Gladstone) expensive IVF. Elopement plans are upended, however, when Min's grandmother (Youn Yuh-jung, Minari) surprises them with an extravagant Korean wedding banquet.
Director Andrew Ahn (Fire Island) and co-writer James Schamus create a fresh and funny modern reimagining of Ang Lee's 1993 classic. This joyful comedy of errors about a chosen family navigating cultural identity, queerness and family expectations premiered at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival to great applause.
