An 18th birthday mushroom trip brings free-spirited Elliott face-to-face with her wisecracking 39-year-old self (Aubrey Plaza) in this coming-of-age comedy.
Hop Film Now
On the cusp of leaving home for college, Elliott (Maisy Stella) is determined to have one last summer packed with good times and girl-crushes. To celebrate her 18th birthday, she boats off to a remote island with her best friends to trip on mushrooms. But just when Elliott thinks she's not feeling a thing, she suddenly finds herself chatting with a woman (Aubrey Plaza) who matter-of-factly says that she's Elliott's future self, then provides evidence and offers some very strong advice related to matters of the heart.
As present Elliott struggles to follow future Elliott's guidance, she starts to open herself to what her future self might have to show her...and vice versa. From writer/director Megan Park (The Fallout) and produced by Margot Robbie, this jubilant crowd-pleaser earned a standing ovation at this year's Sundance Film Festival and offers a refreshing blend of laughter, romance and a dash of fantasy.
