A celebratory weekend of new movies, conversations, networking events and more with alums who've had a strong impact on the film, media and entertainment industries.
November 7-10
When the Dartmouth Film Society was founded in 1949, it was the first college film society in the country. Recognizing this pioneering spirit of the DFS, we honor its legacy by looking at how alumni are blazing new trails in the industry.
Over the course of this weekend, we will show new documentaries, narrative features and short films made by Dartmouth alumni. Guests presenting new work include a range of alums in front of and behind the camera, including independent film producer Alix Madigan '84, A24 executive Mac Simonson '16, comedy TV director Alice Mathias '07 and independent filmmakers Ricki Stern '87, Annie Sundberg '90, Alexi Pappas '12, Samantha Knowles '12, Kate Novack '94, Jesse Sweet '98 and Jason Maloney '91.
The weekend also includes conversations with alums who share a variety of perspectives on the current health of the film and media ecosystem, including Amblin production executive Michelle Brattson Majors '96, Katie Kilkenny '14 (The Hollywood Reporter), Evan Golden '04 (Disney) and Bailey Magrann-Wells '09 (Head of Story at CAA). The panels will also cover new media and gaming, with panelists Johnny Mathias '11 (Apple) and Sarah Rudzki '11 (Bitpart AI). Panels are free and unticketed.
Co-sponsored by the Leslie Center for the Humanities, the Department of Film & Media Studies, the Magnuson Center for Entrepreneurship and the Center for Professional Development.
